Hello Night Jewel, tell us about yourself, what attributes make you the person who you are?

Hi Everyone! I'm a streamer on MeetMe. I have a career in the mental health world as a Licensed Social worker and Mental Health Therapist. I grew up with a lot of negativity in my life related to drugs and alcohol and my parent's addiction. This ultimately pushed me into the Social work career because I wanted to be a support system for kids like me, who are going through this epidemic of heroin addiction. It's a serious problem for society today and I wanted to honor my life experience by using it to help others. I'm a mom and I love it. I'm an Aries so I can be stubborn but I hate conflict so I usually let others have their way unless it's something I feel strongly about. I am also really big on encouraging self esteem to everyone because I think if everyone could just have good self esteem the world would be a much better place to live.

When did you start streaming on Meet Me, and who or what introduced you to streaming?

I started streaming on MeetMe on September 1st 2019. I joined the app out of curiosity after getting tons of spam emails and discovered the live section,
which I immediately got hooked on.

Have you tried any other streaming apps besides Meet Me?

Yes, I run a business on Facebook where I live stream and sell jewelry.

What are your hobbies? What do you like to do for fun outside of Meet Me?

I like to paint and spend time with my son. In the summer I enjoy camping and kayaking too.

Do you like to read any books? Do you have a favorite movie or music you like to listen to?

I love to read! Unfortunately, I have not been making time to do so lately so I guess I better make some changes. As for favorites, I am rarely able to pick a single thing to call my favorite. I like variety and having options so its hard to narrow it down to just one thing. But I love comedy movies and I listen to all types of music, especially 90's. I like a variety of books as well, ranging from Stephen King to J.K Rowling, to Jackie Collins. I like books and television shows when they are in a series because I am the type of person who really struggles when things come to an end. If it's good one is never enough!

What are your goals on Meet Me, why do you use it?

My goal on MeetMe is simple. I want to have fun and bring fun to the people who come to watch my lives. I stream because it's a great way to interact with new people all the time and I have met some truly amazing people who I consider good friends from the app. A lot of times I will have people come to me for advice and I think that is one of the coolest honors because I can use my knowledge and education in the mental health and human behavior field to offer them some insights that others might not be able to give them. For me, streaming has become an escape. I encourage everyone to having coping skills or some way of dealing with hard times in their lives and my broadcasts have been that for me! I recently separated from my husband after a 15 year relationship and the change was difficult to navigate. I felt alone and scared to be adulting on my own for the very first time. MeetMe and the people I've met through the app have been very supportive and I feel like I've gained a family.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now with streaming? What about in real life?

Ten years is a long time into the future to know where I will be. I can't say for sure if I'll be streaming but I know for sure I will be doing something along these lines. I am an entertainer at heart and I love making people laugh because everyone can use happiness and humor in their lives. In real life I hope I'm traveling and seeing the world. I want to experience new things and have awesome adventures.

What has been some negative aspects of streaming for you, and what about the positive ones?

Honestly the only negative aspect I can think of is the people who try to take advantage of you. There are a lot of fake people and fake profiles that are just out to cause chaos. I had to learn that the hard way. I am a pretty emphatic person so when I first started streaming I was having people tell me fake stories all the time to try to get sympathy. I'm the kind of person who likes to help others so I was putting a lot of energy into chatting and talking with people who ultimately made up stories as their way of being funny or trolling.

Do you have any tips for new streamers that are struggling?

Be consistent and don't give up. Pick a regular time and day you will be live and let your followers know when that is so they can expect you. Keep things entertaining. When I stream we play trivia occasionally, we sing and dance, and I like to get people in the box to have conversations about random things. Engage with your audience and ask them questions so they have to respond and so they feel like part of the broadcast! Most people actually love to talk about themselves. Be grateful and acknowledge your supporters when they gift or hold down the hearts. Another good thing is to be a supporter yourself. When you aren't streaming go show love to others. Bring entertainment to your friends and show love with gifts when you can. Lastly and most important, AVOID the drama. Surround yourself with people who are positive and you will be successful.

Is there anything else or final thoughts you would like to share with your viewers?

I just want to say thanks to everyone who comes to my stream, especially to those who are there on the regular. My stream wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if I didn't have great people who follow and support me.
